Patient Participation Group
What do we do?
We were set up just over two years ago as a group of twelve patients, supported by 5 staff members. Every year four new members are elected at the AGM to replace 4 retiring members.
We try to ensure that all patients know what we do and how we do it. To this end we:-
- Established a Notice Board in the Lobby.
- Publish our Meeting Minutes on the Notice Board and on the Practice Website.
- Hold an Open Annual AGM.
- Write articles for the Sheringham Independent.
What are our aims?
THE GROUP’S OBJECTIVES (taken from the group constitution):
“The objectives of the Group shall be to promote the benefit of the patients of the Practice without distinction of age, gender, race, colour, sexual orientation or political, religious or other opinions by encouraging development and quality of health promotion and health care services; to achieve this aim by liaising with the doctors and staff, other community health workers, Health Authorities and other persons or organisations concerned with health care.”
WE ARE NOT:
- a Practice Management Committee. So, we do not interfere with the Practice’s management decision or its day-to-day organisation;
- part of the complaints procedure. There is already a procedure for complaints and a feedback book situated on the Reception Desk. However, if a patient requests that a member accompany them to a meeting concerning a complaint as a ‘friend’ we are happy to respond.
