Great Yarmouth & Waveney Mind is 1 of 129 local Minds in England and Wales working in partnership with National Mind. Local Minds are independent charities - we raise our own funds and we have our own Board of Trustees who are responsible for how we’re run.  Being local we understand our community and tailor our services in response to what people need most. Being part of the Mind network means we benefit from shared support, knowledge and ideas. Nationally, Mind gives advice and support to anyone who needs it, campaigns to improve services and raise awareness.  We work in partnership with Mind nationally and the other local Minds in our network to deliver high quality services to anyone who needs them.

For forty years Great Yarmouth & Waveney Mind have been delivering a range of information and services to help people suffering from mental distress live full and independent lives.  We provide one to one support, social groups and workshops for young people, adults and carers.  We run a residential housing service, enabling residents to live as independently as possible in a supportive and homely environment.  We also run a half acre community garden project and provide mental health education and promotion to individuals, schools, colleges and businesses.

We work in partnership with Wellbeing Norfolk & Waveney to offer help and support to improve wellbeing, manage stress, low mood and anxiety. These services are provided in community settings and include a wide range of workshops and courses, talking therapies, including counselling and cognitive behavioral therapy, and access to social networks.

Great Yarmouth & Waveney Mind provide a mental health caseworker, based in the Sheringham Medical Practice for 3 days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Friday).

The caseworker carries out initial assessment with newly referred patients, and offers 1-1 appointments to support them for a limited period of time, sign posts to other services including Norfolk and Waveney Wellbeing Service and other services delivered by partner organisations if appropriate.

This is a pilot scheme and will initially run for a 6 month period.
